A free TradingView alternative for investors

TradingView is a superb charting platform for traders. Its free plan, though, stops at 1 watchlist of 30 stocks, 3 price alerts and 1 portfolio of 20 holdings, and the rest costs $12.95 to $199.95 a month. If you mostly want to follow your stocks, Stock Buddy does that for free, with no ads and no paid tier.

What TradingView does better

Charting, by a wide margin. TradingView has technical indicators, drawing tools, intraday and minute-level charts, screeners, Pine Script, broker integration and a huge community sharing ideas. Even its free plan gives you 2 indicators per chart. Stock Buddy has none of that: its charts are daily, from 1 day to 20 years, with volume, percent comparisons of up to 4 stocks and click-to-measure returns. If you trade on technicals, TradingView is the right tool.

Who Stock Buddy is for

Questions

Is there a free TradingView alternative without the 3 price alert limit?

Yes. On Stock Buddy every stock you follow can have its own alert, with an upper and a lower target, emailed to you when the price crosses it. There is no overall cap and nothing to pay. How alerts work.

How many stocks can I put on a watchlist for free?

TradingView's free plan allows 1 watchlist of up to 30 symbols. Stock Buddy allows up to 20 watchlists of 50 stocks each, free, and they sync between your phone and computer once you sign in.

Is Stock Buddy a full replacement for TradingView?

Not for traders. It's a replacement for the "follow my stocks" part: watchlists, alerts, portfolios, quotes, long-range charts and financials. For technical analysis, keep TradingView.

Does Stock Buddy have technical indicators?

No RSI, MACD, moving-average overlays or drawing tools. It focuses on clean daily charts and plain numbers.

Is Stock Buddy really free?

Yes. No paid plan, no ads, no upgrade prompts. Browsing needs no account; signing in with Google or email saves your watchlists, alerts and portfolios.

Does Stock Buddy cover stocks outside the US?

US-listed stocks and ETFs are fully covered. Stocks on exchanges such as London and Toronto show their price and chart in the local currency and can go on watchlists and in portfolios; company financials for those listings aren't available yet.
