Free stock price alerts by email

Get an email when a stock hits the price you set. No app to install, no brokerage account, no premium tier. Works on any stock on your Stock Buddy watchlist.

How Stock Buddy price alerts work

  1. Add the stock to your watchlist and turn on Alerts.
  2. Set a Target price (usually today's price or your cost basis).
  3. Add an Upper alert, a Lower alert, or both. Type either a price or a percent, and Stock Buddy fills in the other.
  4. That's it. Stock Buddy checks prices every 15 minutes during market hours and emails you the moment a level is crossed. An alert only fires once, then re-arms if the price moves back and crosses again, so you don't get spammed.

Open Stock Buddy Free. No ads. No account needed to browse.

Why email instead of an app notification

Email works on every device, doesn't get buried under other push notifications, and leaves a record you can search later. It also means you don't need to keep another app installed just to be told a stock moved.

Common questions

How do I set a stock price alert on Google Finance?

You can't. Google Finance doesn't offer price alerts. The usual workaround is to keep your list in Google Finance and set alerts somewhere else. Stock Buddy is built for exactly that: import the same tickers into a watchlist and set upper and lower alerts on each one.

Does Yahoo Finance have price alerts?

Yahoo Finance offers alerts through its apps for signed-in users. If you would rather not run the app, or you want alerts on a clean, ad-free watchlist, Stock Buddy sends them by email from the web.

Can I get an alert when a stock drops?

Yes. Set a Lower alert. You can enter it as a price ("alert me at $150") or as a percent below your target ("alert me if it falls 10%").

Can I set alerts on ETFs?

Yes, any US-listed stock or ETF on your watchlist.

Is it really free?

Yes. Stock Buddy has no paid tier. You only need a free account so the alerts know where to email you.

What happens if I remove the stock from my watchlist?

Its alert is deleted with it, so you never get an email about a stock you stopped tracking.
