Simple on purpose
Most stock apps are built for trading. They put order tickets, options chains, and margin offers in front of you whether you want them or not. Stock Buddy is built for people who want to watch their stocks: a beginner following a first few companies, a long-term investor checking in once a week, or anyone who just wants the old Google Finance back. There is one list, one search box, and one chart. If you want to trade, use your broker. If you want to keep track, use this.
Works everywhere
Because it's a website, Stock Buddy works on iPhone and Android in Safari or Chrome, on Mac and Windows in any browser, and on a tablet. There's no App Store download and nothing to update. Add it to your home screen if you'd like an icon.
What it doesn't do
It doesn't trade, it doesn't give advice, and it doesn't cover stocks listed only outside the US, such as the Toronto exchange. Market data comes from a paid provider and is real; if a symbol has no data, the site says so rather than showing a placeholder.

Is there a simple stock tracker website that doesn't need an app?
Yes. Stock Buddy runs in the browser on any device. There is nothing to install, and you can look up quotes and charts without creating an account. Sign in only if you want your list saved across devices.
Is Stock Buddy really free?
Yes. There is no subscription, no premium tier, and no ads. Every feature on the site is free, including price alerts and the portfolio tracker.
What is the easiest way to track stocks without a spreadsheet?
Add the tickers you care about to a watchlist and let the site keep the prices, market caps, and dividend yields current. A spreadsheet has to be maintained; a watchlist updates itself.
Can I track my portfolio, not just a watchlist?
Yes. The Portfolio tab lets you enter shares and average cost for each holding and shows live value, today's move, total return, and allocation. You can keep several portfolios and view them in US or Canadian dollars.
Does it send alerts when a stock hits a price?
Yes. Set a target price and an upper or lower alert on any watchlist stock, and Stock Buddy emails you when it is crossed. No app or push notifications required.
Does it work on iPhone, Android, Mac, and Windows?
Yes. It is a website, so it works in Safari, Chrome, Firefox, and Edge on phones, tablets, and computers. Your watchlist follows you when you sign in.
Which stocks can I track?
Any US-listed stock or ETF on the NYSE, Nasdaq, or AMEX, plus major indices like the S&P 500 and Dow and larger OTC-traded ADRs such as Nintendo. Stocks listed only on the TSX or other non-US exchanges are not supported yet.
Is it a good stock tracker for beginners?
It was built to be. There are no order tickets, no options chains, and no jargon-heavy screens. You search a company, see the price and a chart, and add it to your list.
How is it different from Google Finance or Yahoo Finance?
